Can't be any uglier than what's there. I just wonder if they're going to clean up skid row before they put in a mixed use development. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that transvestite prostitutes and a Target with condos can't possibly go together, but let's just say it's uncharted territory at this point.
"Approval also will be sought to permit apartments or condominium spaces above the retail shops." Sounds like they're thinking urban and seeding a market for their retail.

I wish they'd make some space for the Vietnamese grocery on Cleveland. Who needs a Whole Foods? In fact, it'd be great if they went with the character of the neighborhood as it stands (well, stood if the map in the CA today is right) and give the whole place an international vibe.
